Second Semester Begins

Second Semester Begins.

At Denver Jewish Day School, both teachers and students are looking forward to the upcoming months as the second semester gets underway. This semester offers new chances for students to go deeper into coursework, take part in many extracurricular events, and build connections within the school community. The second semester at DJDS promises to be a time of development, exploration, and camaraderie for all students.

New course options allow students to pursue academic interests like never before. With the most AP classes ever offered and new classes that change the way students view learning. Such as the Holocaust Literature class in which students are able to grow their writing technique by learning about their Jewish history. As new classes continue to evolve, students at DJDS will continue to be able to enjoy classes that offer new perspectives on their interests.

Second semester clubs and activities are in full swing. DJDS students will return to Moot Court Nationals representing Colorado for the second year in a row. The Moot Beit Din team has tripled in size and is ready to represent the school after winning second place internationally last year. The Model UN team has organized a strong group of delegates to represent El Savador. The Tiger’s basketball season continues with many struggles ahead. The girls team is proving they are one of the best to ever play at DJDS, and the boys are ready to face the continuing struggles of a young team. Baseball season begins soon, and with it a fresh team to represent the tigers on the field. And of course, the beloved COLOR WAR is this semester, this battle promises to engage all of the creativity and ruach this school has to offer.

As we look ahead to the coming semester, As we look ahead to the coming semester, the opportunities at Denver Jewish Day School seem boundless. With innovative classes, engaging extracurriculars, and exciting traditions like Color War, students have countless ways to grow academically, socially, and personally. The second semester is not just a continuation but a chance to push boundaries, embrace challenges, and celebrate successes together as a community.

Wednesday Course Offerings continue to expand -

For the fourth semester in a row, the Wednesday alternative class schedule experiment continues. More and more clubs are being created for Wednesday classes to captivate student’s interests. DJDS students have the opportunity to explore passions outside of regular classes during school hours! However, this semester offers a unique new way for students to explore their interests.

This semester there are more clubs led by students than ever before! Returning favorites include Aviation Club (that went indoor skydiving) and Middle School Moot Court. However there are a slew of new student led clubs that push the boundaries of what is possible on Wednesdays. One is Magic Class led by magic extraordinaire Stanley Demain, a sixth grader. “The magic class is a great opportunity to explore my hobbies and interests, and a great way to branch out. I am so excited that I have been given the responsibility and opportunity to teach my own class as a 6th grader,” said Demain. The school is proving that they trust students to be responsible, even students who are in their first year in the upper division. Another boundary expanding club is Fishin’ Club led by avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Jake Cohen. Cohen plans to take the class off campus to reservoirs and other fishing locations, potentially even on weekends. The horizons keep expanding for students at Denver Jewish Day School.
